Webinar: Growing and Showing Achimenes
Growing and Showing Achimenes
by Julie Mavity-Hudson
Achimenes, sometimes called the hot water plant, are a wonderful addition to any plant collection. What’s more, for those growers who seem never to have enough space for their collection, they can be grown outside in the warmer months. They are ideal for that purpose since the foliage dies back in the winter. These easy to grow plants are quire floriferous, if you know what to do. That’s where Julie Mavity-Hudson comes in. When it comes to Achimenes, she has the Midas touch.
Julie has agreed to share her considerable knowledge and experience growing these versatile plants in a Gesneriad Society webinar scheduled for October 4th at 9 pm EDT. Orders must be received by October 3rd, 9 p.m., EDT to guarantee receipt of a link to the live webinar. This webinar will also be available for online “anytime” viewing until June 30, 2017. You will receive your link to the live session within 12 hours of the start of the webinar. There is an opportunity to ask questions during the live sessions but not during the anytime viewing. The Anytime Viewing version will be available 24 hours after the live session. Please note that while you can have as many people as you want in the room listening, you cannot share your link with others. The unique login link will only admit one computer.
As an added bonus, each viewer will receive a free, PDF copy of the special issue of Gesneriads devoted to the genus Achimenes.
Julie Mavity-Hudson is the current president of The Gesneriad Society. She is a long-time grower of many gesneriads and grows 80-90 different varieties of Achimenes.
